Project Name Project Description One stop services for Obtaining Help Combining the procedures of collecting evidence, diagnosing injuries and writing police statements to be held at the same location. If, after evaluation it is decided to reduce the number of times victims must repeat their statement, we will also contact a prosecutor to be on site or use faxes to direct the investigation. In this way we can avoid unnecessary travel and repetition of statements for victims. Also, we can request the police to maintain all important evidence submitted at the time of discovery of the victim. Reduction of Victim's Repetition of Statement To reduce chances that victims of sexual assault have to repeat their statement to medical personnel, social workers, police officers and prosecutors after each case is under the judicial procedure, beginning in 2001 in order to co-operate with operation points for reduction of victim's repetition of statement that were released by the Ministry of the Interior, we implemented the Reduction of Victim's Repetition of Statement Project. When victims come to report a case, we immediately combine police officers, medical personnel and social workers and also report to the prosecutor's office. In this way, we are able to investigate the case at the same time as recording statements. We hope that aside from when a victim must appear in court, they will not have to continuously repeat their statement. Preparing Victims for Court 1. We use the Taipei and ShiLin District court to create a mock court and a list of must-know items in order to show victims how the court is arranged, the roles of the court and their normal procedures.
2. For adolescents and handicapped victims, we will first hold a conference with them. By using the mock court and role-play, we will allow the victims a chance to learn how to carefully listen to questions and make requests to clarify questions so we can reduce the anxiety felt in court and improve the ability of victims to make statements and their quality.
3. Print tips for appearing in court and prepare answers to assuage any doubts victims may feel towards court, as well as educate victims to be well-prepared and taken care of before, in and after court appearances. In this way we can reduce the anxiety and fears felt by victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, elevate their ability to provide evidence and complete the judicial procedure with a fearless mind.Compensation Plan for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault We scheduled this plan in order to enlarge the social welfare and education promotion for domestic violence and sexual assault. In this way, we can give society the correct concept about domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and increase the motivation for people to search for help to prevent cases from occurring. The compensation items include promotions for domestic violence and sexual assault, projects for college students volunteer service of domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, projects for schools to develop promotional skits, other related projects for domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and projects for networking and co-operation. Marriage Violence Protection Project 1. Provide services and consultation for marriage violence victims and witnessing children on a case-by-case basis.
2. Based on the family system point of view to connect and co-ordinate related units to provide victims with complete service.Consultation for Child Witnesses of Domestic Violence Project Due to the negative effect and scarring that may develop with child witnesses, we have a consultation project to assist children and teenagers to recover from the trauma and develop better personalities. Taipei City Government, District Court Domestic Violence Office To implement the spirit of protection of victims of domestic violence and assist victims in leaving violent households, Taipei District Court, Shindian Office and ShiLin District Court co-operatively established the Taipei City Government, District Court Domestic Violence Office to provide legal aid and social welfare. Due to this, the victims of domestic violence can receive immediate andappropriate support and assistance through prosecution. Supervise and Arrange Meetings for Adolescents In order to maintain contact between adolescents and parents who have separated or divorced due to violence, we will have the organization locate a safe and neutral place to meet. In this way, parents still have an opportunity to maintain an emotional link with their children. Marriage Violence Opposite Party Consultation 1. Provide medical, psychological, social worker and legal services to marriage violence opposite parties in order to make adjustment to their mental frame of mind and life.
2. Reduce the possibility of recurrence of marriage violence, reduce the injuries of victims and expect improvements of the violent habits of the opposite party.Pre-trial Evaluation for Domestic Violence Opposite Party and Arrangement Plan for Perpetrators 1. While judges are filing protection orders and reprieve announcements, to understand if the opposite party has the need to take treatment for domestic violence perpetrators and which treatment is required, we will have a pre-trial evaluation.
2. With the evaluation team members (including psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers) we can understand the opposite party's mind and provide suggestions for treatments. This will be the reference for the court trial.Sexual Assault Victims Therapy and Consultation According to the Sexual Assault Prevention Act, Article 20, the Prevention Center accepts sexual assault cases and arranges organizations to give mental and physical therapy for victims.
